I have been riding since I was three years old, but have been showing competitively in dressage for the last three years. My current horse, Dog and Pony Venus is owned by Victoria Forester and The Dog and Pony shop. I have had her for a year and a half and have taken her from a solid first level to schooling Prix St. Georges. She is a one of a kind horse as her temperament is worth her weight in gold. Currently I am completing at the FEI Junior level and have qualified Venus for the Canadian National Junior Championships in Ottawa this year. I also have a three year old Flemmingh offspring that my parents bred. With her my ultimate goal is to have her at Young Riders by my last year in the Young Rider program.
At this time I receive instruction every 8 weeks from Albrecht Heidemann, and with my father in between. When I was younger and just learning how to ride my mom would teach me everyday on the lunge line doing exercises to teach my how to sit. I am extremely fortunate to have two parents that have come from families that are involved in the horse community.
Outside of horses I have many other interests such as work, school and competitive sports. As a child I danced and played soccer but quit because I wanted to ride more. I still played rep. Softball and swam competitively. I was also involved in a sewing program outside of school. I still swim for my school swim team and ride twice a day. Currently I am employed my Kim and Dietrich von Hopffgarten working on their farm. At school I am enrolled in grade 11 for the 2005-2006 school year. My area of focus for my studies is directed in the medical field but I am still open to veterinary medicine, psychology and dermatology. Before attending university I would like to take my young horse to Germany to school for a year. Recently, in the last month and a half I broke my three year old and plan to begin showing her in the next few years.
I live on a five acre farm in Langley with 6 horses. We will be expecting another foal in the spring of 2006. We also have two cats, two dogs and recently got a miniature Sicilian Donkey as a companion.
My favorite saying is Carpe Diem, meaning “seize the day“.
I am very grateful for my parents support and the opportunity to ride a Horse like Venus.
