With Christmas just around the corner schedules become more and more hectic. To tame the “horsy” mind during this chaotic time, I, Focus have selected my favorite items from The Dog and Pony Shop. Hopefully they will serve as some useful gift ideas.
Leg support and protection
As my workload increases it is important that I protect my most valuable assets, my legs.
(a) These training bandages are made from highly elastic and hardy material and double fastening velcro straps. They are combined with a CLIMATEX layer, which provides optimum protection against pressure points. Climatex bandages are ideal for high performance competition horses. They are available in a variety of colours from Pink to Beige to black. Climatex polos are also available with the Climatex material in a separate quilt from the bandage, if so desired.
(b) Pro Classic boots are made from neoprene with felt like covering. Not only are they perfect for first time trailer rides, but also provide a high-level of support to the tendon during strenuous workouts. As you can see they protect from the upper cannon bone down to the fetlock joint. I give them two hooves up!
(c) Bell boots are suitable for almost every horse. Walsh bell boots are my favorite because they are thicker then a standard boot and have the added bonus of a sheepskin layer around the upper cuff. The sheepskin prevents irritation and sores. They both easy to use and clean.

Body Wear
(a) The number one Christmas gift I am wishing for from Santa is the Amerigo Cortina Dressage saddle. Peter Menet came to my barn while he was here and fitted me for a saddle. Both the Vega and the Cortina fit me and were comfortable but the Cortina stuck out because it put my rider in an optimal position. She can sit in a balanced and efficient seat that distributes her weight to where I can handle it without disturbing my rhythm or balance. With a wooden spring tree and wool flocked independent panels, the saddle is able to fit my needs while maintaining rider comfort.
(b) After a long hard workout there is nothing that I enjoy more then having my Rambo New Market Fleece cooler put on to keep my muscles warm. They are made from a two-ply, anti-pill fleece. It has thermal wicking properties to keep the chill off me. The cooler also has criss-cross surcingles and a two-surcingle front closure. It is available in the blue colour scheme as well as gold with red and black stripes.
(c) Comfort is the number one concern for us horses. The Wilker schooling pad truly provides me with cosiness. The pad lacks a seem down the center and therefore eliminates any painful rubbing that may occur. It is available with the cream center and soft pastel colours for the trim.
Headwear and accessories
(a) Schumacher Sattlerei consistently produces quality products. Although the bridle is available in plain black, why not go for some colour. This Otto bridle comes in pink, white, green, burgundy, blue and Grey. Luxury is quality and this bridle is luxury!
(b) Why not reward your horse or rider or groom a little more this Christmas season? There is a variety of colour and expressions from “Mare of the year award” (Pictured) to “Manure manager of the year award”. Great for anyone and everyone! Have a little fun at Christmas!
(c) Your rider forces your brow band to match your saddle pad, and your saddle pad to bandages etc. etc. Why not make her match you. With new Pikeur winter wear you and your horse can match and be in the highest fashion. Pink is the new blue!
